On November 18, 2018, the Korean self-defense and self-defense course was held for everyone / women and professionals at Kumgang Bottrop with one of the best speakers, Grand Master Hwang-Yong Kang. GM Hwang-Yong Kang has been awarded the 9th Dan Taekwondo, 8th Dan Hapkido and 6th Dan Haidong Gumdo. In addition, Grand Master Kang received special military training in the South Korean army. As a co-speaker, I was able to support Grand Master Kang with my knowledge as a police trainer, who also worked as a lecturer for various institutions, such as the fire brigade school, with the topics: "Dealing with violent people". We formed two groups for the seminar participants so that one group of advanced martial artists and martial artists of various styles could experience professional Korean self-defense, while the second group practiced the basics of self-defense for beginners. Some of the participants had never been in contact with martial arts before and so we saw our task primarily in teaching these people simple self-protection techniques and reducing their fears. After a brief legal introduction to self-defense and help law, both groups were given intensive support by us speakers. When warming up, some participants came to realize that they wanted to do more for their body and mobility again. In the further course, distances, self defense tactics, use of objects, falling exercises and ground techniques were trained. The application of the techniques in realistic scenarios was an important and final part of this seminar. The end of the seminar was therefore later than planned so that everyone could ask their questions and bad experiences (victims of violence) in the seminar and work through with a solution. All participants were enthusiastic and had fun, even if it was sometimes associated with pain. A sequel will follow!
