Buchae (subjects): "Basic Techniques"

While the techniques with the Danbong (short stick) in most Hapkido styles already belong to the fixed technical repertoire of a hapkidoin in the lower Dangraden, the techniques of the Buchae (fan) are often only encountered from the degree of the master (4th Dan) or above , Like the Danbong, the Buchae aims at the (Kupso) nerve pressure points of the opponent. While the short stick is used as a single weapon, the fan is often used in a double pack. In earlier times, the subjects were made of Bakdal, a very hard wood and often had also incorporated metal ribs for reinforcement. Sometimes sharp knives or poisoned arrows were integrated into the harmless-looking weapon for defense.

In the videos shown is practiced with two hand-held combat fists with steel struts. Please note when purchasing or using the applicable in your region provisions on weapons law!

In the video you see seven basic strokes and a finger exercise with the fan
